Founded in 1982, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is a top-ranked public university and a part of the University of Illinois system. It is the largest university in metropolitan Chicago, and is included in R1: Doctoral Universities with very high research activity. It was ranked 26th nationally by Washington Monthly, and among top 25 public universities by Times Higher Education. Both THE and US News rank it among the top 200 universities globally.
